LATE BREAKING NEWS!

If you are Guatemalan, you are well aware of the difficult situation your fellow countrymen are experiencing due to the volcano and hurricane.  There is some good news.  Tuesday, June 1, the Guatemalan government has requested that the United States give temporary status (TPS) to those Guatemalans that are in the United States. The TPS, if you qualify, will give you the opportunity to stay in the United States indefinitely (until the United States decides to end the program) with a work permit.  We will be reviewing the progress of this request.  If approved by the US government, our office will work with you to determine if you qualify and to help you apply. Recently, Haitians received TPS due to the devastating earthquake. Please contact our office if you have any questions. 

Si Usted es Guatemalteco, ya debe saber sobre la dificil situación que sus compatriotas están viviendo debido al volcán y el huracán.  Hay buenas noticias.  El Martes, Junio 1º, el gobierno de Guatemala le ha pedido a los EEUU que le dé estatus temporario, TPS, a los Guatemaltecos que estén en los EEUU.  Si ustedes califican, les dará la oportunidad de quedarse en los EEUU indefinidamente (hasta que el gobierno de los EEUU termine el programa) con permiso de trabajo.  Nosotros estaremos revisando el progreso de ese pedido.  es aprobado por el gobierno americano, nuestra oficina trabajará con Usted para determinar si califican y para ayudarle con la aplicación.  Recientemente los nativos de Haiti recibieron el TPS, debido al terremoto.
